Wall printing in humid environments: when design goes beyond traditional limits

In contemporary interior design, print is no longer just a decorative element. It has become a true design tool—one that engages with architecture, responds to complex conditions of use, and actively contributes to the identity of a space.

Today, the real challenge is not only aesthetic, but technical: how can graphic customization be integrated into environments exposed to water, humidity, and high levels of stress, without compromising visual quality or long-term durability?

One of our recent projects was born precisely from this question.

A Tailor-Made Project: Wall Customization for a Children’s Pool

The project involved the wall customization of the children’s pool at Suvretta House in St. Moritz—an environment with particularly demanding conditions: constant exposure to water, high humidity, and strict technical requirements in terms of safety and resistance.
In contexts like this, every design decision must begin with a careful analysis of the surfaces and their conditions of use. For this reason, the selection of materials and printing supports was guided exclusively by the real needs of the space.
Specific printing systems for humid environments were used, designed to ensure:

  • water resistance
  • long-term durability
  • safety in high-traffic areas

The project was realized using the patented Tattoo Wall technique, a solution that allows print applications even on surfaces exposed to high levels of humidity, overcoming traditional application limits.

Graphics, Architecture, and Light: A Design Dialogue

On these technical surfaces, a fully bespoke graphic concept was developed, designed to integrate seamlessly with:

  • the architecture of the space
  • natural light
  • the volumes and proportions of the environment

The illustrations, created by Victoria Zhivotneva, are not merely decorative elements, but an integral part of the project. The result is an immersive environment in which graphics, materials, and space interact, strengthening the visual identity of the location and enhancing the user experience.

What This Project Demonstrates

This intervention shows that today it is possible to:

  • create printed installations even on walls exposed to water and humidity
  • select printing materials and supports suitable for technically complex contexts
  • integrate graphic customization as part of the architectural design
  • maintain a high aesthetic standard even in high-stress environments
  • overcome the traditional application limits of print

Pools, wellness areas, and technical spaces—long considered “difficult” environments—are now becoming new design surfaces.

New Opportunities for Hotels, Companies, and Public Spaces

This project represents a concrete example of how print can be applied even in traditionally complex contexts, opening up new opportunities for customization for:

  • hotels and hospitality facilities
  • companies
  • commercial spaces
  • public venues

For us, every installation project always starts from a fixed point: the analysis of surfaces, environmental conditions, and the client’s objectives.
From this approach, bespoke printing solutions take shape—solutions capable of combining technical performance, visual quality, and design freedom, even in the most challenging environments.

Do You Have a Project in a Complex Environment?

Whether it involves humid environments, technical surfaces, or spaces with specific requirements, every project can become an opportunity for customization when approached in the right way.
If you are working on an installation for pools, wellness areas, hotels, commercial spaces, or public venues, get in touch with us.
Together, we will analyze surfaces, environmental conditions, and design objectives to develop a tailor-made printing solution that combines technical performance, aesthetic quality, and long-term durability.

Let’s talk: let’s transform even the most complex contexts into true design surfaces.
